⚡ 40 Buttons, 36 Lighting Circuits & Home Assistant — How Would You Build It?

Thank you for your advice and for pointing me toward the product selector.

I have to admit, I was a little intimidated by the selector at first ?, but I went through it and, based on my installation and your recommendation to use the ESP32-S3 / KCS v3 solution, I ended up with this configuration:

1 x Mean Well NDR-240-24 – 24V / 10A power supply
2 x KinCony F24 ESP32-S3 
1 x KinCony DM4 ESP32-S3 – 4-channel 0–10V dimmer
4 x 0–10V to AC dimmer/SSR modules for my dimmable LED bulbs

I also removed the SR-ZG9042A-D from my original plan, as they no longer seem necessary with this architecture.

Before I place the order, could you please take a quick look at this configuration and let me know if it all makes sense to you?

In particular, I would like to make sure that I haven't made any mistake or forgotten an important module, and that these products are the right choice for my installation.

Thanks a lot for the feedback; it’s really interesting, especially coming from someone with a setup quite similar to what I’m building. By the way, I think we’re in the same Western Europe zone. 

Regarding the wiring, that’s exactly what I’m planning: I’m wiring all my switches with Cat5E F/UTP so they remain autonomous if there’s an issue with Home Assistant or the network, while still being fully controllable and automatable.

Your feedback on relays—and especially LED inrush currents—is making me rethink my choice of boards, too. That’s exactly the kind of problem I’d rather discover now than after installing 30 or 40 circuits!

I’m also going to look more closely at the roller shutters. I’m a total beginner at this, so understanding all the possibilities is taking a huge amount of time, especially since I can’t really test things out in practice yet.

As for the thermometers, I was thinking of placing the small "Tiny Sensors" fairly close to the switches. For now, I’m picturing a small 3D-printed case, discreetly tucked away on a shelf. Although I might run out of budget to buy one soon!

When you mentioned adding a few diagrams, did you mean diagrams showing the overall wiring and architecture of the system?
I haven't made the actual wiring diagrams yet — for now, I only have rough sketches on paper. I wasn't sure what level of detail you had in mind.
I’ll put this here anyway, even though it’s probably not particularly useful. It’s just the basic architecture showing the switch bus going to the KinCony boards and the 230V circuits.

I'll be tackling the diagrams soon—I imagine using draw.io (diagrams.net), unless there's another recommended tool?
