I recently purchased a KC868-A16 and I am currently testing the outputs before integrating the board into an automation project.
I am having an unexpected behavior with the Y1-Y16 outputs and would like to confirm whether this is normal or whether there may be an issue with the board or its configuration.
I am powering the KC868-A16 with a 12V DC power supply through the DC input. I also connected the 12V+ from the power supply to the 12V+ terminals of both output terminal blocks, one for Y1-Y8 and another for Y9-Y16.
For the load, I am testing a simple 12V LED with two wires, red (+) and black (-). I connect the red wire to 12V+ and the black wire to an output such as Y9.
I initially tested the outputs using ESPHome with Home Assistant. I also tested the hardware independently using Arduino IDE and direct I2C communication with the PCF8574 at address 0x25, which controls Y09-Y16, so the behavior is not related to ESPHome or Home Assistant.
With the Arduino test, I directly write 0xFF and 0xFE to the PCF8574 to toggle P0/Y09.
The behavior is:
P0 = HIGH / 0xFF
Y9 measures approximately 10 to 11V
The external 12V LED is always ON, but only at low brightness.
P0 = LOW / 0xFE
Y9 measures approximately 0V
The external 12V LED turns OFF
When I connect the same 12V LED directly between the 12V+ and GND terminals of the board, it lights at full brightness as expected.
Therefore, the power supply and LED appear to be working correctly.
I also tested several outputs, including Y1 and Y9, and they show the same behavior.
Could someone from KinCony please clarify the expected electrical behavior of the Y1-Y16 MOSFET outputs on the KC868-A16?
The board is a KC868-A16 Rev. 1.6.3
I would appreciate any guidance regarding the correct wiring and the expected output voltage/current behavior for this revision.
