Controlling all wall sockets using Kincony products - viktor - 01-05-2022

Hi guys,
I follow Kincony products for some time and really like all the features they bring. I'm not electrician, have no experience with smart installations yet, but have master's from computer networks. As we are moving to a new flat that requires complete re-construction, I'm playing with an idea to buy Kincony products and turn that place into a smart one. I'm not fan of wireless connections due to security, so was thinking about wiring everything - around 10 lights, 15 wall switches, 30 wall sockets and 4 external curtains. LAN network would be OK for me. I struggle with few things and maybe somebody in this forum can help me to answer them? Sorry If my questions are lame...

1. Is above described scenario OK for Kincony products?
2. I'm located in Europe and our sockets have max load of 16A. I see that KC868-H output ports have max load of 10A. So how can this control 16A sockets? Should I use those Omron relays that support 16A? If so how to chain them?
3. If I want to be able to turn on/off each wall socket separately, what products should I use and how to wire them? Max output ports I see in the list is 32, so seems like I need to do some chaining? Also, when it comes to connection, do I need to run separate L wire between relay appliance and sockets? When it comes to N and GND wires, those can be chained from one socket to another?
4. I understand that wall switches will only use 12V. Initially I thought they only use some simple data bus wire to send signal about pushed button to controller. But looking at the pictures of some Kincony switches in articles posted here, there are many ports on the back side. So how does this actually work and how many wires do I need to run to each wall switch?
5. Finally, which products should I buy to achieve all of this? It is clear that I will need to ask electrician for installation. But I would like to understand this myself as well.

Thank you.

1. yes, KinCony products support scenario mode. you can use "KinCony smart home " app for scene mode, just need internet, if you add KC868-COLB logical controller so that can use scene mode without internet, it's work in locally.

2. We suggest you chose the newest version KC868-H32BS, it output 32 channel DC12V, you can connect to Omron extend relay module (KC868-E16), so that will support MAX 16A, because KC868-E16 use relay by 16A/AC230V, also it support manual control if the KC868-H32BS is broken.
here is details of KC868-E16: https://www.kincony.com/din-rail-relay-module.html
here is video tour of KC868-E16: https://youtu.be/sSOE3ochczE
how to wire: https://www.kincony.com/images/kc868-e16/din-rail-relay-module-install.png

3. if you want to turn on/off each wall socket separately, let H32BS every channel output connect to one extend relay, the relay output connect with one socket. if you have " 10 lights, 15 wall switches, 30 wall sockets and 4 external curtains". so total relay is 10+15+30+4*2=63 channels. (every curtain motor need take two relays) so you can use 2pcs of KC868-H32BS, if you use multi-controller, just all use in one software window. if you have 15 wall switches, the "N" line can connected together, but "L" lines all from relay separately.

4. our wall switch have two version (just dry contact switch button all can use for KinCony's controller) a: Mechanical switch panel. b: touch glass switch panel.

type a. if you don't want to use 12V DC also can work, the dc12v just for LED indicator for relay state feedback.
type b. need have 12V DC power supply.

all switch panel just have two line for OPEN/CLOSE, then relay will be on/off, very easy, you can use CAT5 network cable, but this cable not for ethernet communication.

5. I suggest chose 2pcs of KC868-H32BS, 2pcs of KC868-E16, if want use scene mode, add 2pcs of KC868-COLB. the switch panel just chose color or style by yourself in our online store.

Thanks for quick reply.

1. Clear
2. Is possible to have circuit breakers before omron relay and controller? In the wiring diagram you have them placed after. Why is it like this?
3. Where you say "if you use multi-controller, just all use in one software window", you refer to COLB? If I wanted to use it, I would connect it according to your latest guide https://www.kincony.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1070?
4. Ok, so type a mechanical switches can be connected to 230V and have many ports because they can be used for "not smart" installation. Led requires 12V. Type b requires 12V and can be wired using ethernet cables, smart installation only. Right?
5. Do I really need 2 COLB modules, cant be achieved with one?

RE: Controlling all wall sockets using Kincony products - admin - 01-08-2022

2. yes, you can , both "before" or "after" all can do.
3. if without COLB, relay can work no problem, just if you want to make scene or automatic control (input sensor trigger output) without internet, need add COLB.
4. type A and type B all can't connect to AC230V, they are just a simple switch button, connect with H32BS controller for trigger message. just type B (touch panel) must need DC12V power supply.
5. You can use 1 COLB if let COLB and H32BS connect with RS485 bus together.
