Error conectin to wifi network - adrianGM - 11-28-2023

Dear friends.
I purchase a KC868-M16 v1. First i plug usb and 12v power suply, after open url "https://web.esphome.io/" in a browser and connect to de device on port com3, connect fine and push on "Prepare for first use", after a minute finish correctly and ask for "connect to wi-fi" as the video in the kincony channel, but dont list any network in the list, and dont fine it if configure it manual. In the log show this error:  No network found!

you can test with ethernet cable firstly. just ues our yaml file, here is details: https://www.kincony.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2829

Dear  friend, thanks for your help.
I tested with ethernet and works!! But I need wifi in the place i will use it.
I have noticed in the logs that sometimes it manages to connect to the wifi with very bad signal. I think the wifi module comes without antenna could be why? I'm doing the tests with the router, should teenre maximum coverage.

thanks for your help.

M16 board's wifi module have PCB antena, not need extend wifi antena. do you have installed M16 board into a metal box?

As I am testing it I have it on the table, it is close to the router, I do not understand that it marks the signal in red or even is not able to detect any wifi.
Could it be the module or the antenna on the PCB?

post your yaml file at here, and your esphome LOG screen photo about wifi information.
do you have use dc12v power supply? whether can change another power supply for a testing?

With this "esphome-web-5a54b8_wifi.yaml" that has the wifi configured it gives me these logs: "logs_esphome-web-5a54b8_run.txt". On occasion if you have connected to the wifi but it was only a bar and was not stable sometimes disconnected.

With this "esphome-web-5a54b8_ethernet.yaml" that has the ethernet configured it gives me these logs: "logs_esphome-web-5a54b8_logs_ethernet.txt". I can see the values on HA but after connecting all the clamps and putting a 100w incandescent lamp on channel 1 I don't see any reading. I have 50 -> 1v clamps, the board configured all clamps in volts, the readings it shows are all noise, none gives high values.

Attached is a photo of the assembly

I'm using the dc12v power supply that came with my order from your store, i could look for another one but I have measured the output and it gives 12,16v, it seems correct.

Thanks for your help Smile

1. about the wifi, can you try to connect with another router? or maybe you can change your router's wifi channel number. for example, you can let your mobile phone work as AP mode, let your M16 connect to your mobile phone wifi for a test.
2. if you use 100W light, 50A CT sensor is too large, you should use miniest 10A CT sensor is better.

Dear friend. Thanks for your help!
1. I have tested with the phone next to the board at 1 cm and it detects it with a very low and unstable signal. I attach the logs too
I tested with a Netgear power sopply and the wifi has the same problem of signal.  I attach image capture too.
2. You are right  50A CT sensor is too large, but measuring the same with the clamp empty is normal? because there is no difference between bulb on and off. I think I could get more accurate measurements with a 10 gauge but I don't know if it's normal that it doesn't measure anything?

I have done another test with a 100a -> 50mA clamp like the one in the video, changed the jumper to Amperes of channel 1 using a 2000W dryer and it works. Voltage clamp measurements may not work?

RE: Error conectin to wifi network - admin - 11-29-2023

1. i see, you have not installed wifi antena, so the signal is bad. your esp32 wifi module have IPEX socket, use for extender wifi antena. here is photo.

2. M16 board support “voltage" and "current" two types of CT clamp sensor. so you need to set jumper on PCB according to your CT sensor type.
