KC868-A16 board - wired security system - lxndrbrn - 11-17-2024 I would like to build a home alarm system based on the KC868-A16 board. I plan to document everything as precisely as possible to make it easier for others to follow this path. Starting point: My house is wired with copper cables leading to every window, door, and most room ceilings. I use Home Assistant with the MQTT2Zigbee plugin and mainly Zigbee devices. The goal: A wired alarm system with a power backup, integrated into Home Assistant, and with relatively low acquisition costs. The initial questions are: 1. Can I simply connect a magnetic sensor to the digital inputs? (If yes, what voltage do they operate on?) 2. Can I connect a 24V siren to the dry contact output? Could I power it separately using the board’s 12V power supply? I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you very much. PS.: I am currently designing a 3D case for the board (which I’ll gladly share with the community once it’s ready). Also ive got many Cases for Mounting of the magnet sensors and the movementdetectors. RE: KC868-A16 board - wired security system - admin - 11-18-2024 1. Yes, it's OK, it can use by dry contact signal. or input dc12v (logical "0"), dc0v (logical "1"). 2. if you want use 24v siren. just let KC868-A16 work with DC24V power supply is OK. board support DC12-24V power supply. we suggest you chose new B16M Controller for your house. Because it made by ESP32-S3 chip. in future, all new firmware update and new functions will based on new controller. KC868-A16 is stop maintenance. This is the Picture. ![]() RE: KC868-A16 board - wired security system - lxndrbrn - 11-25-2024 Hello dear Admin, thank you very much for the fast reply. Unfortunately, I actually bought the older A16 board. The budget for this project is a bit tight and the board seems to meet all my requirements. Can you please take a look at my drawing? 1. how much voltage would the circuits for Door Magnet 1 and Door Magnet 2 get? 2. can I do this with the 12 v and 24 v power supplies? 3. would Door Magnet 3 and Door Magnet 4 work? I have, as promised, designed the case for the board. Can I post it here, or should I make a separate post in the forum? https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6837967 RE: KC868-A16 board - wired security system - admin - 11-26-2024 1. how much voltage would the circuits for Door Magnet 1 and Door Magnet 2 get? -->usually door sensor output two wire, dry contact, not need power supply. just connect to digital input ports and GND is ok. 2. can I do this with the 12 v and 24 v power supplies? -->why not use one DC24V power supply? KC868-A16 support DC 12-24V power supply. 3. would Door Magnet 3 and Door Magnet 4 work? --> "Door Magnet" is a sensor? if YES, can't connect to OUTPUT port, you should connect with digital input ports, as same as "Door Magnet1" and "Door Magnet2" Thanks share your 3D files. RE: KC868-A16 board - wired security system - vdeconinck - 01-04-2025 Hi, I am interested in a similar project. I am running a Domoticz-based home-made alarm for a long time, using Rasberry Pi GPIOs to connect door/window reed sensors and trigger the alarm sound/light, and I want to update/extend it, so I would like to switch to a A16 board and Home Assistant. At that time, I had to build a DIY Rasberry Pi HAT to filter out transient spikes that appeared on the sensor lines: Are the A16 inputs more immune to spikes and EMI than the RPi ? Or do you think I must also precondition the signal by adding RC filters ? Also, what is the power consumption of the A16 board (not counting MOSFET outputs of course), so that I can choose the right 12V power supply. Kind regards, Vincent RE: KC868-A16 board - wired security system - admin - 01-05-2025 1. There is an optocoupler isolation circuit with KC868-A16 digital input ports. You can test. 2. KC868-A16 PCB work current only about 200mA without DC load. suggest use DC12V 2A power supply. Thanks for the quick reply. OK, I ordered a board and will report here. KR, Vincent |
