How can I power multiple devices simultaneously using KC868-A16? - ingersoj - 12-06-2024
I bought the KC868-A16 recently and I worked with it for a few days to set it up with Home Assistant; now I finally have it set up so I can connect my devices to the outputs and switch them on/off (one at a time) using home assistant.
The problem I am now having is that when I try to switch on more than one device at a time (each connected to a different output on the KC868-A16), the devices will not get enough power and they will switch off automatically through the KC868-A16 after a second or so.
Each of my devices requires 12 Volts and 3 Amps of power. I currently have 12 devices in total. What do I need to do in order to give adequate power to all devices at the same time, assuming I have connected them each to a different output, and without them losing power? I have only tried two devices at once and that didn't even work - only one device at a time can receive enough power to stay on.

Sure, here is how I wired two sirens for testing purposes. I am using the junction terminal block seen here as an easy way to connect each of the negative siren wires to the same ground terminal of the power supply, since otherwise they would not all fit inside that terminal. The positive wires of the sirens are in output 15 and output 16.

the WHITE color wire - Vin, you can connect with extend big power supply for your load. if you use multi power supply, just connect all GROUND together.

I'm sorry, I don't fully understand, do I need to purchase 2 additional separate power supplies, and connect one to each of the 8-output blocks (12V x 8 = 96 volts to each side)? I've already connected the ground wires of both siren devices together via the terminal block seen in the picture.
Or, would this be eaier/safer if I somehow connected a separate relay module board, or would I need a different device altogether, such as the KC868-A16S relay board?
I don't have very much experience working with electronics boards and the correct ways to connect and power devices; most of my prior experience is working with the software instead, i.e. Home Assistant, and wireless plug-and-play devices. For this project, all I want is the ability to switch on/off multiple wired devices using Home Assistant, ensuring each device has enough power so that they can all be switched on at the same time.

your photo is right. the simplest way, just replace one DC12V power supply with large current version is ok.

Instead of trying to connect a 96-volt power supply to each of the 8-channel outputs on the KC868-A16 board, I decided to order a 12V 16-channel relay module for arduino (An example of this board is seen here: https://www.desertcart.ae/products/1170701-sainsmart-16-channel-12v-relay-module-board-for-arduino-dsp-avr-pic-arm).
If I can get this setup working the way I'm hoping, each of the devices I connect to the relay module can be powered by its own separate 12V 3A power supply.
How can I use this relay module with the KC868-A16, such that the A16 outputs can control each of the respective relay switches? Do I just need to connect each of the 16 outputs on the A16 to the 1-16 input pins on the relay module? And will the relay module need its own power supply, or will the A16 board be able to supply power to it somehow?

KC868-A16 mosfet output 12v for extend relay. just use 12V 3A power supply for KC868-A16, not need add extend power supply.
