Unable to get AG8 board to function - Smith6612 - 02-16-2025 Hello there! I have recently purchased two AG8 Smart Controllers, and I am having trouble with both of the boards. I am trying to use the boards with the ESPHome firmware, and have built demo firmware inside of ESPHome using the ESPHome YAML file found here: https://www.kincony.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=5889 . I am able to enter Download Mode, and successfully flash the firmware to the device. However, after power cycling the device to boot the firmware, I cannot get any network connectivity to the device. In my YAML config, Ethernet is selected. The device establishes an Ethernet link but does not send any traffic (No DHCP/No IP Address obtained). I have also tried to switch the YAML config to use Wi-Fi, with Wi-Fi Hotspot Fallback, and the device never broadcasts in AP mode. I am also unable to connect to the ESP32 using USB Serial in normal boot mode. Only if I boot the device into Download Mode, in which case the device appears and I can send firmware to it. I have also attempted to install the Tasmota firmware. The Tasmota firmware was outputting on serial, but all I could see in the serial output is the device boot looping, attempting to load the firmware. I am wondering if this has to do with the power supply for the board. I am currently using a 9V 500ma power supply. According to my Multimeter, the power supply at the terminals while the board is active reads 10.6v. The product page says 9V-24V is the power input range. Is my power supply acceptable or is there a recommended voltage/amperage for the product? I do have other ESP32 powered devices at home which operate on 5V 1A power supplies without issue. RE: Unable to get AG8 board to function - admin - 02-16-2025 i suggest to use KCS v3 firmware for AG8 contrlller. it's very easy for home assistant. next week will make video tour about AG8. KCS v3 firmware donwload link: https://www.kincony.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=7628 how to use IR by KCS v3 , online guide: https://www.kincony.com/how-to-use-kcsv3-firmware-esp32-board.html RE: Unable to get AG8 board to function - Smith6612 - 02-16-2025 (02-16-2025, 05:40 AM)admin Wrote: i suggest to use KCS v3 firmware for AG8 contrlller. it's very easy for home assistant. next week will make video tour about AG8. Hello! I forgot to mention in my original post - I also tried the KCSv3 firmware for the AG8. The device behaves the same. I do not see the Wi-Fi Hotspot broadcast, and the device is not connecting to the network (although the Ethernet port has a link/flashing orange light). To confirm, I have flashed with these settings. Hello again! Just wanted to reply back. I was able to locate a stronger power supply, and my product is now working. It appears the other power supply, while it is capable of powering up the ESP32-S3 to Flash, is not powerful enough to run the board in normal boot mode. I located a 12V 1200mA supply, and the product booted up. I have attached photos of my old supply and new supply, as well as the voltages on the output without load, and with load, on the stronger supply. Thank you! RE: Unable to get AG8 board to function - admin - 02-16-2025 ok, good, DC 12V 1A is ok. |
