KinCony F8 + ESPHome: Unable to Enter Tuya Pairing Mode (Smart Config)
#1
Hi!

I'm trying to pair a KinCony F8 device with my Tuya account. I flashed it with an ESPHome firmware, and it is working perfectly with Home Assistant.

Now I'd like to add Tuya connectivity. Based on the example code shared in this forum, I installed the firmware on my device, but I can't get it to enter pairing mode.

One thing that seems unusual is that the Tuya module never appears to complete its initialization. As shown in the attached ESPHome logs, the message "begin smart config" is printed repeatedly about every 50 ms, making it look as if the module is continuously trying to enter Smart Config instead of staying in pairing mode. Could this indicate that the Tuya module is not responding correctly or that I'm missing an initialization step?

I've attached the ESPHome firmware and the ESPHome logs.

I would really appreciate your help identifying what I'm doing wrong and how to get it working.

Thank you very much!
Guillermo

Thank you very much for your help.

I downloaded the firmware and was able to flash it to the KinCony F8 without any errors. I can see the logs in ESPHome, and the previous loop issue is now gone.

However, I still cannot get the KinCony F8 into pairing mode to add it to my Tuya account.

Right after flashing the firmware, I open the Tuya app and select “Add Device,” but the device is not detected. I have also tried pressing and holding the CFG button for several seconds, but nothing seems to happen on the device.

Do you have a video or step-by-step guide showing the correct procedure to put the F8 into Tuya pairing mode and add it to the Tuya app?

I may be missing a specific step in the pairing procedure.

Thank you very much for your help.

Thank you. However, I am developing a product based on ESPHome using the KinCony F8 and KinCony F4, and I need to make both devices work with Tuya.

The idea is that, in installations where Home Assistant is not available, the customer can still control the product through the Tuya app.

I would really appreciate your support with this, as I think both the F8 and F4 are very good products and I would like to use them as the hardware platform for my own product.
