How to properly do factory reset?
#1
Hi,
I previously programmed my A16 with ESPHome and it worked, but need to reprogram the A16 for another home now.
I have problem trying to just reprogram from ESPHome - it doesn't accept the API key.

I wanted to flash reset the board into factory settings and start from scratch, but can't seem to do that...
I removed the radio chip, there is nothing connected to the board except the power supply. I turn on the power holding the 'Download' button, keep it over 10 sec, and then release and leave the board powered up for another 2-3 minutes.
Then I power down and power up again, and after it boots it happily logs into my Wifi, so the reset didn't work. But I still can't get it to work with ESPHome.

What am I doing wrong?

if you can re write the ESP32 by ESPHome, just download yaml file in ESPHome again.
take a photo how you wire and ESPHome error screen and your yaml file upload at here.

The photo of board would not help as there was nothing connected, radio module removed, only power connected while I was trying to do factory reset.
After several further retires I finally managed to reprogram ESPHome firmware, but honestly I don't know what has changed that it finally worked.

Can you confirm if according to my description the procedure of factory reset should work, or did I miss something?

you can use ESP32 Download Tool to "eraser" chip all content.
