your code already is running correctly. you can also install DS1307 arduino library, then chose a example demo run testing.

I cannot believe you confirm my code is running correctly. A NAK answer after a Write Request to 0x68H is an evidence something is wrong in the hardware. Furthermore, if the scanner only sees both PCF8574 but not the DS1307 is a confirmation that I2C is working but the DS1307 don't.

I replaced the DS1307 chip on the PCB and now it is working as expected.

Hello, I have the exact same problem with my board. When I run an I2C scan, it only finds the PCF8574 chips at 0x22 and 0x24.
Just got the board last week (from Aliexpress), and everything else works fine.
Is the conclusion that the DS1307 chip is bad ? I did pit in a fresh new battery in.
What is the resolution ? I am in the US, so sending the original board back to China is not a viable option.

Actually, I tried the scan / test without the battery and everything works ! I will pursue the modification that another forum member already discussed, which is to get rid of the diode in series and see how this works.
