My 3 month old KC868-AIO board has failed. It no longer communicates with my Home Assistant over ethernet, doesn't appear on WIFI. Can't connect via USB and the ESP chip on the board is VERY hot. There is no activity on the ethernet connector. Not sure what failed or why, because it was working perfectly even earlier today. The power supply is fine and measures 12.45 volts and the power LEDs are lit, but it appears to be brain dead. I powered it down and disconnected all the I/O plugs and there was no change. -Telewizard 13

power supply use DC12v is better. can you check some voltage point on pcb? such as 12V port, 5v pin and 3.3v pin whether work well. there are label on PCB showed voltage. if all point voltage is normal, suggest you replace a new ESP32 module.

The 5V and 3.3V voltages were all normal. I covered the surrounding circuitry with Kapton tape and used my hot air station to remove the faulty ESP chip. I ordered aESP32-WROOM-32UE-N8 8mB chip from Mouser. Hopefully that is the correct one. It should arrive next week. I'll have to re-flash it and load the firmware again. Hopefully that will resolve the issue.
Now I'm concerned I ordered the wrong part from Mouser. Which version of the ESP32 is the correct one? It isn't marked on the part or in your spec sheet.

I replaced the faulty ESP32-WROOM-32UE-N4 chip with a new ESP32-WROOM-32UE-N8 and reflashed it. I utilized a mini reflow hot plate so I could solder the center pad. The AIO board is now functioning normally again. Not sure why it failed, but glad it is working again.
