Which parts to order for Loxone Project?
#1
Hi,

just recently found about your Boards and luckily there is also some Loxone integration options available right from the producer. Great!

I would like to double check which parts / boards should I order to integrate with Loxone.
Loxone (master) <-> Kincony boads (Slave)

Eventually MQTT,UDP or Tasmota system would be also fine to integrate with Loxone (as i have already few devices working)

Here is the list what I would like to have:

KC868-E16S
  1. Preferably via LAN Cable (due to stability and latency)
  2. 12-16x Relays to operate 230v devices. Relays should be easily replaceable as on KC-868-E16 boards
  3. few DI for Digital Buttons, Impulse meter / Power consumption
KC868-E16S (not sure if 1-wire is there, but I see some I2C Extender on board
  4. 1-wire for Temperature / Humidity sensor
  5. I2C support for SHT31 sensors or SCD30 (temp/hum/co2)
Probably some additional board to get AO ports
  6. 2-3x AO 0-10v controller for FANs

Some of those features should be possible via
KC868-E16S
or KC868-E16T (not sure what is the difference, + Tuya support feature?)
In case there is newer / more suitable board, please let me know

Thanks!

if you want integrate Loxone system, i suggest you chose KinCony F16 controller, that use by KCS v3 firmware, v3 firmware will have Loxone option, now under testing, will release soon.

Thumbs Up
Ah good tip - this one? https://shop.kincony.com/products/kincon...elay-board
Also available in AliExpress? (shipping to EU/CZ)

Removable Omron Relays, great  Blush

1-Wire GPIO: 4CH (with pull-up resistance on PCB) - how this works? is it some hub where i can connect multiple DS sensors?

What about the extras:
1. I2C support for SHT31 sensors or SCD30 (temp/hum/co2)
As i need to have like 5-6 sensors in place for different areas

2. Probably some additional board to get AO ports
2-3x AO 0-10v controller for FANs
Board should send 0-10V or PWM signal to FAN to regulate speed.

Thanks!

Do you will use KCS firmware or config by ESPHome?

not sure yet, dont have HW ordered.

Firtst i need to decide, order and then test if KCS FW or ESPHome works better with Loxone or which one is less hassle to integrate.

1. 1-wire gpio, every one connect with one sensor (such as DS18B20 / DHT11/DHT22), in future we will update firmware support multi sensor by one GPIO.

2. SHT31 will support by i2c extender.

3. about 0-10v output, you can add KC868-D16, it's 16 channel 0-10v output. or you can chose A32 Pro smart controller, that have 2 channel 0-10v output ports.

If i get:
F16 16CH ESP32-S3

1. I has mentioned 1-wire gpio for sensors already ?
2. SHT31 will support by i2c extender. - is it present on the board? As i dont see it
or i need to buy some additional "expansion board" ?

3. just for 2-3x AO planned output , getting KC868-D16 220$ is an overkill
Same with A32 Pro, wont fit into DIN box with other components

I did look on your page
Maybe this might help for my case:
- KC868-D8 / https://www.kincony.com/8-channel-dimmer.html - 8x AO ports
- KC868-A4S / https://www.kincony.com/4-channel-gsm-re...board.html with 8x AO ports - 80$
- KC868-A4 / https://www.kincony.com/kc868-a4-hardwar...tails.html - with 2x AO ports - 35$
- KC868-A6 / https://www.kincony.com/kc868-a6-hardwar...tails.html - with 2x AO ports - 50$

Still all those boards are too big in size and also all the features are already in  F16 16CH ESP32-S3

4. Something similar as such board (but with AO port) isn't in your portfolio?
KC868-AM https://shop.kincony.com/products/kc868-...sion-board

5. This board is AI or AO as i need?
KinCony ESP32-S3-WROOM-1U N16R8 Core Development Board
https://shop.kincony.com/products/kincon...ment-board

6. Any other tip how to get it working even via such board (PWM to Voltage Converter Module 0%-100% to 0-10V) connected to yours?

1. Yes, the image marked RED REGION use for 1-wire sensor.
2. i2c extender inside of box on PCB, i suggest you use this type of RS485 SHT31 sensor, here is link: https://shop.kincony.com/products/rs485-...e-by-sht30 so that can use long cable for long distance.
3. KC868-D8 is stop produce now, replaced by new model KC868-D16
4. KC868-AM no AO.
5. KinCony S3 board have analog input, but without analog output, you can add i2c extender module: PCA9685 it's a small AO i2c module. just connect with S3 board's i2c extender pins.
6. we don't have similar board, i have said, use i2c PCA9685 is ok.

Thanks for the tips!

1. ok clear...afterwards with 1-wire how many sensors it can handle?
As i haven't found those details in specs
https://www.kincony.com/esp32-s3-tuya-re...d-16a.html

It can be parasite or star connection? doesnt matter?

2. This is the I2C socket, as on some other board from Kincony (see pic)?
If so do you have some cable for that white port <--> with other side screw socket to connect multiple sensors or other I2C devices together?

2.1 Sensor you suggested it's fine but i have already multiple SHT31 on stock (pic attached)

3. Ok, so
KC868-D8 / KC868-D16 are out
KC868-A8 / KC868-A8S no AO

I might use additional RELAY board in other DIN box, but i would need at least 5 relays
3.1 - KC868-A6 - with 2x AO ports - 50$ - Would be good, but no LAN port. Therefor no Loxone control possibility?
KC868-A4 -  with 2x AO ports 35$ and no LAN port

Seems like most close is:
3.2 KC868-A4S - with 8x AO ports, but only 4x Relays Sad

4. KC868-AM also out

5. "you can add i2c extender module: PCA9685 it's a small AO i2c module. just connect with S3 board's i2c extender pins."
Something like this? PCA9685PW 16 Channel 12-bit PWM/Servo Driver-I2C Interface https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004959076770.html
Or you have some in your Products?

This module could be connected directly to F16 16CH ESP32-S3 to I2C?

6. if so and I will use the KCS v3 FW (for Loxone) is this board already somehow programed , so in can use it for AO?

Sorry for many questions , but as the order is from other side of the world, i want to get the right items Wink

Thanks

7. Found this explanation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuD9rBW3T4M
So now is much cleared how i can extend any Board with I2C via such extension boards

Even KC868-A4S has only 4x Relay i should be able to extend via KinCony DO8 PCF8574 IO Expansion i2c relay board (https://shop.kincony.com/products/kincon...elay-board)

Not yet sure about the Loxone controlling option

1. every GPIO connect with one sensor for DS18B20/DHT11/DHT22. any one of sensor. here is KCS v3 firmware online guide, that showed how to set GPIO for sensor:
https://www.kincony.com/how-to-use-kcsv3...board.html

2. here is the photo showed i2c extender on the F16 PCB. this i2c sensor SHT31 have used this white socket:
https://shop.kincony.com/products/sht30-...tion-cable

now i2c bus only support one sensor. But in future, i think we will update firmware define another i2c bus by two free gpios on the GREEN terminal, so that not need open the BLACK box connect with i2c sensor.

3. how about you use 2pcs of KC868-A4S.

5. we don't sell the PCA9685 module, you can also find some module with 8CH version. KCS firmware not support PCA9685 directly, if you config by ESPHome, it no problem.

6. we are developing firmware will support Loxone, but only based on ESP32-S3 CPU board. KCS v3 firmware only design for ESP32-S3 solution board. Because of ESP32 don't have enough memory, ESP32-S3 is large memory size.

7. you can use extender module DI8 or DO8, but now not support by KCS firmware directly, that support config by ESPHome.
