KCS868-A6 not found
#1
Hello,

I have connected a new KCS868-A6 v1.3 by USB to my Mac and powered with a 12V power supply. I intend to use it with ESPHome and Home Assistant.

I do not see a usbserial port (no /dev/cu.*), and I do not see a wifi network.

When powered up or S1 is pressed, it clicks all 6 relays so something is alive in there!

What am I missing?

Bonus question: Is there an easy way to add an Ethernet module that works with ESPHome?

Thanks.

because now esp32 inside is our test firmware.
you need download KCS v2 firmware to use. or you config it by esphome. the USB driver for MAC download at here: https://www.wch-ic.com/downloads/CH341SER_EXE.html
A6 no free GPIO for ethernet module.

Understood, need to flash esphome. However, I don't see any USB device (besides my keyboard and hub) when I connect the KCS.

I tried:
- 3 different known good cables (1 A to C, 2 C to C)
- Connect to hub and connect directly to a port in my computer
- Power cycle, hold button.

According to the instructions for the ch341, I should see a USB device with VID 1a86, but it is not there.

Please advice.

Thanks for your answer, understood about the demo firmware.

I do not see a USB device. According to the documentation in the CH341 driver, I should see an USB device with VID 1a86. But that doesn't show up. All the USB devices are accounted for.

I tried 3 USB cables, of which 2 are known to work. I tried direct to my laptop and through USB hub. I tried power cycling.

What do you suggest I try from here?

Thx,

Please find attached photo. As you see, I didn't populate any inputs or outputs; just power (12V) and USB.

Got the USB driver, but the problem remains the same - the board doesn't show up on USB.

Surely it has to be something dumb on my part.

Thanks.

I should have mentioned that before posting, I tried with several known good cables, including the one I use to sync my phone and the one I use to stream audio.
