1. S3 board MUST work with power supply, can you change to DC12V? can't only work with USB-C cable. the USB not power for the PCB.

2. do you have hold on the S2 button on the photo?

right step is:

1. power off S3 board.
2. hold on S2 button (not release your finger)
3. power on S3 board.
4. release your finger.
5. connect USB-C cable to your computer.

Yes, I am using the correct button.

I have many similar devices. The boards are faulty.

The spec says 9-24V not 12V specifically. 9-24V See screenshot.

my means , you can test with DC12v power . if you have tried different usb-c cable also can't work.
tell us your order number, where you buy from, we will check then feedback to you. maybe need replace ESP32-S chip.

hi iam having the same problem, iam able to download a program to the device, but after restarting, the device is doing nothing, looks there is nothing inside.
tried to upload a very basic program (even tried to activate wifi) but still doing nothing.
download is goiing well, no errors

can you also support me with my issue?
downloading of the software is going well (llos that its going well) but after restart, the board is not comming up in esphome.
i use a 12Vdc power supply.

If you have uploaded the esphome firmware to the device, and it is correct, then it is more than likely a network issue.

If you'd care to post you code I'd gladly take a look at it for you.

Did you use ESPHome to upload it? If so, you'll have seen the 'finished message. From there you should be able to see the log. Can you see it?

Rather annoying how these aren't able to be powered by just the USB-C connector alone, but need something like a 12V connection (and the USB-C for first programming).
They are very useful boards however, when you get them going. Even better with an add-on daughter board to add more connectors / access to PINS.

Here's one being used with:

• BME280 sensor for temp/humidity etc.
  
• TL-136 / LIQ-136 Liquid Pressure Sensor for water tank (sensors tested, but pending placing in 10,000L tank)
  
• 2 x Reed sensors attached to town gas and water meters, to read gas/water usage in the house
  

Then using a custom component to automatically track/publish the Water and Gas (in MJ and also m3) consumption for Today / Yesterday / Week / Month / Year.
When the TL-136 is live in the tank, the Tank Sensors will then have these Today --> Year consumption sensors added also.

Off screen is inputs for Gas Pressure Factor and Heating Value, that take the m3 usage (from the reed switch / meter outside) and converts the m3 readings into MJ values (as per retailer bills in).

yes, iam able to upload the compiled yaml file to the unit,flashing is goiing well (looks like)
compile the yaml file inside esphome, and then upload it with esphome-flasher (use this for al the units.)

after that, i disconnect the usb, restart the unit, with a ethernet calbe plugged in, but nothing happens, its not showing up in my router and even not in esphome.
i can see the orange led blinking on the ethernet port, green led is going off (this one is on when there is no cable inside, which is strange for me, as its not on other modules)

after uploading, nothing happens, even after waiting a long time, there will be no log. after restarting the unit, and i tried to connect it to see the logs, but the com port is showing and disappering, looks like if there is abad connection or something. even the serial conection cannot open
